PRIVACY POLICY
This “Privacy Policy” describes the information that Psychiatrists’ Purchasing Group, Inc. receives with respect to individuals and groups that participate in The Psychiatrists’ Program, and the use to which that information is put.
Psychiatrists’ Purchasing Group, Inc. periodically receives from Professional Risk Management Services, Inc. (“PRMS”), the Program Administrator, information concerning the name, mailing address, telephone number, and Program identification number (“Personally Identifiable Information”) of individuals and groups that participate in The Psychiatrists’ Program. In addition, in its role as ombudsman for the Program, Psychiatrists’ Purchasing Group, Inc. also receives inquiries and information directly from participants concerning questions, issues, or claims that might, under certain circumstances, directly or indirectly lead to PII (“Related Data”).
This Privacy Policy applies to all PII and Related Data received by Psychiatrists’ Purchasing Group, Inc. Psychiatrists’ Purchasing Group, Inc. reserves the right to revise this Privacy Policy. If we make revisions that change the way we collect or use PII or Related Data, those changes will be posted on our website. If you are a participant in The Psychiatrists’ Program you should review this Privacy Policy periodically so that you are up to date on our most current policies and practices.
Except as described below, Psychiatrists’ Purchasing Group, Inc. does not sell or otherwise disclose PII or Related Data to any third parties. Psychiatrists’ Purchasing Group, Inc. may from time to time provide Related Data to PRMS or exchange Related Data with PRMS regarding specific matters in which it is performing its role as ombudsman
As a purchasing group acting under the federal Liability Risk Retention Act, Psychiatrists’ Purchasing Group, Inc. is required to register with the insurance regulatory authorities of every state in which it does business. The registration requirements in some cases require disclosure of aggregate premium and other information concerning The Psychiatrists’ Program generally. PII and Related Data are typically not required to be disclosed in the registration process, however, the possibility exists that state insurance regulatory authorities may request such information in specific cases.
We do not disclose PII or Related Data to the American Psychiatric Association.
We use PII and Related Data in the following ways:
- To keep track of the overall size, scope and performance of The Psychiatrists’ Program;
- To monitor PRMS in its role as Program Administrator;
- To perform our role as ombudsman;
- To assist participants in connection with specific inquiries that arise from time to time;
- To meet our regulatory compliance obligations;
- To provide participants with information that may be of interest to them.
Except as described above, or if we inform you otherwise at the time of data collection, we will not share your PII or Related Data outside of Psychiatrists’ Purchasing Group, Inc.
Special Circumstances: There may be instances when we may disclose PII or Related Data without providing you with a choice in order to protect the legal rights of Psychiatrists’ Purchasing Group, Inc., our members, employees, agents and/or contractors; to protect the safety and security of visitors to our web sites; to protect against fraud or for risk management purposes; or to comply with the law or legal process.
We use commercially reasonable measures to safeguard PII and Related Data in our possession against loss, theft and unauthorized use, disclosure or modification. We retain your information for as long as necessary to permit us to use it for the purposes that we have communicated to you and comply with applicable law or regulations.
