WELCOME

Psychiatrists' Purchasing Group, Inc. (PPG) is a non-profit corporation that operates pursuant to the federal Risk Retention Act of 1986. That law authorizes the formation of purchasing groups as a means by which individuals with similar liability risk can purchase insurance to cover that risk and, potentially, utilize economies of scale to achieve advantages in the form of lower premiums or benefits of coverage that might otherwise not be available.

PPG is the purchasing group for The Psychiatrists' Program, a professional liability insurance program for psychiatrists and other mental health professionals working with them. Professional Risk Management Services, Inc., (PRMS) is the Program manager. As sponsor of The Psychiatrists’ Program, PPG performs such functions as advising PRMS on matters relating to the practice of psychiatry, assisting PRMS in regard to risk management education programs, and, in its role as ombudsman, assisting Program participants and applicants in their contacts with PRMS.
